Our Philosophy:

Quality and workmanship is paramount. Therefore we have a small, dedicated and

trained staff that keeps a close eye on every step of the process of building your home.

It is important to us that the homes we build are:

About Us

We are driven by a passion for working with solid wood and building things that are made to last. Having lived and been trained in the alpine region of Germany and Austria, we immersed ourselves in the traditional building techniques using solid wood, natural rock and bricks. Studying traditional European timber framing techniques, we combine traditional joinery with the latest innovations in heavy timber construction. TG Timberworks was established in 2010 out of a desire to bring these building techniques to Canada, creating beautiful, comfortable and healthy living spaces for our clients.

very strong structurally,

durable with a long useful life (aimed at 100 years or more),

healthy to live in with no hazardous off-gassing,

built from natural materials as much as possible that not only have a high performance, but are also easily recyclable when necessary

with solid wood sourced from carefully managed ecosystem-based forestry operations

and have a vapour permeable, "breathable" building envelope.

Coming from Europe, our building techniques and the approach to functionality is heavily influenced by European building traditions as well as the latest technologies.

Materials we use:

Solid wood: Douglas Fir, Larch, Spruce and Pine sourced from small community forest operations

Nexcem Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF): Nexcem forms are currently available with an R-Value of up to R36. R22 forms are ideal for below ground applications such as frost wall foundations.

European windows and exterior doors made by Gradwohl Austria

Wood fibre & hemp insulation - healthy (no VOCs), renewable, natural choice

Pro-Clima high-tech vapour permeable building membranes

Wood fibre insulation boards made in Europe

We have equipped our shop with European machinery, manufacturing each piece of wood to precision. Rather than being a high-volume operation with CNC machinery, each piece of wood is carefully selected and prepared manually.

Since 2010, we have worked with Owner-Builders who desired to get involved in the entire design and build of their future home. As of 2024, we will be providing log home and log cabin kits as well as 4-season bunkies that can easily be assembled by yourself or local buiilding crews. Depending on your location we may be able to assist with the set-up of the building on site.
